Many of us grew up playing in playgrounds like children.
It was a different time, and in the summer you could play unsupervised from sunrise to sunset, taking breaks to drink cold water from a garden hose.
Things are very different these days and another one of the changes in playground safety in general.
Nowadays, more than 80% of public parks have some protective surface around the equipment.
The yards in the backyard are very different: only about 9% of the yards in your garden have some protective surface, and most have grass or dirt.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission of the United States (CPSC), this leads to more than 69% of the 50,000 annual injuries in a playground.
Most of these are injuries that could be prevented by the use of some chips for playing areas or other protective surfaces.
There are many types of surfaces you can use to help protect your children.
Sand is not recommended because children can track everything and remove it from the team area, as well as having it in their eyes.

Wood mulch is better, but constant maintenance and padding are necessary. Otherwise, there will be low areas / bald spots where children can be injured.
The filling of rubber or rubber granules is much better regarding cushioning and protection.
However, they have the same problems as the filling of sand or wood; They can also be tracked away from the equipment or dangerous area.
Probably the best protective surface to use is the rubber gaming tile, also known as gaming mats.
The rubber tiles for games are excellent because you can get different thicknesses, from 1 to 4 1/4.
This is great because the CPSC has a statistic called Critical Height of the Playground Equipment, which is the highest point that children can access any recreational equipment.
Once you know the critical height, you can calculate the thickness of the tiles or mulch from the playground that is needed for that area.
The patio’s rubber tiles also have holes in the bottom of them to fit almost any surface.
You can get different tile colors to suit the patio’s color scheme or make beautiful designs.
They are also respectful with the environment and made of recycled rubber.
They have interlaced edges, so they are easy to install, and the rubber material is breathable and resistant to damage.
However, if some tiles are damaged or worn, you can replace that tile or section of the tile.
When assembling the tiles, a small amount of strong adhesive is used to connect them, that way the children can not separate them.
The water dries quickly because water does not accumulate. Finally, these rubber tiles can be purchased in primary and bright colors that many children adore.
This type of protective surface can significantly reduce the number of scratches, cuts, bruises and even the most unpleasant injuries, such as broken bones and concussion.
For these reasons and many more, you must register in the safe play areas for your public playground or the backyard.
